World Sjogren's Day

World Sjogren's Day, every year on July 23rd, raises the alarm of this immune system disorder. It's also a day to better understand the signs so that Sjogren's (SHOW-grins) Syndrome is properly diagnosed.

Sjogren's Syndrome affects millions of people around the world. The two key signs of this immune system disorder are dry eyes and dry throat. The immune system attacks the cells that produce saliva and tears with Sjogren's book. Sjogren's can also cause problems in other areas of the body in addition to affecting the mouth and eyes. This includes the thyroid, kidneys, liver, lungs, and nerves. Other immune disorders, such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, are often associated with chronic illness.

Sjogren's syndrome also has these signs: Sjogren's illness has:

  • Joint pain
  • Skin rashes
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Persistent dry cough
  • Swollen salivary glands are found in swollen salivary glands
  • Poor dental health
  • Excessive thirst

Chronic exhaustion affects many people with Sjogren's Sjogren's. At least 13 forms of exhaustion have been found by The Sjogren's Foundation. Basic, rebound, sudden, weather-related, exhaust, but wired, and exhaustion brought on by stress and anxiety are all typical examples of fatigue. Many people with Sjogren's will suffer from any or all of these types of exhaustion at some point in their lives. Sjogren's fatigue is the third most common symptom of the disease, according to those who experience it.

Sjogren's disease signs can vary from person to person, making the disease difficult to diagnose. Many of the signs are similar to other forms of autoimmune disorders, which also makes it difficult to diagnose.

Sjogren's disease has no cure. However, there are some medical treatments that can help to relieve symptoms. Medications can help alleviate symptoms associated with dry eyes and dry mouth. Hydroxychloroquine has been shown to be a bossal agent in fighting symptoms. Some doctors may also prescribe drugs that suppress the immune system. Ear acupuncture, probiotics, black currant seed oil, and fish oil are among the natural remedies that can help relieve symptoms.
