World Obesity Day
Every year on March 4th, World Obesity Day encourages people around the world to take action against the obesity epidemic. It's also a day to raise obesity awareness, encourage advocacy, improve policies, and share experiences.
Obesity affected over 650 million adults in 2016, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Today, the number is closer to 800 million. Since 1975, this number has tripled. Adults with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more are considered obese. Poor health is one of the many effects of obesity. Obesity also has a toll on one's mental stability. Many people who are obese are not overweight are not uncommon to suffer with anxiety, depression, and other mental disorders.
Overeating is the sole cause of obesity, according to some people. In some instances, this may be true, but not in all. Obesity can also be related to other causes. Obesity causes include genetics, sleep deficiency, poor mental stability, some drugs, and a lack of access to appropriate healthcare. Some people also lack an education on basic nutrition.
Many people who struggle with obesity suffer with weight loss often experience weight bias. People have a negative attitude against them because of their weight, which leads to a negative opinion about them. Many that are obese can be discriminated against in the workplace or education setting if this occurs.

The world obesity day is in history
Various obesity awareness days have been held around the world over the past two decades. Established in 2010, one of the first was European Obesity Day, one of the first was established in 2010. In 2015, the World Obesity Federation introduced World Obesity Day in order to raise more awareness. In 2015, the World Obesity Federation introduced World Obesity Day to raise more awareness. Since then, many companies around the world have banded together on this day to respond to the obesity epidemic.
