World Aspergillosis Day
World Aspergillosis Day, held every year on February 1st, aims to raise concerns about this under-diagnosed fungal disease. It's also a day to inform the general population about the signs and symptoms of aspergillosis.
Aspergillosis is caused by a common mold called Aspergillus. Although it does grow indoors, this mold is most common outdoors on plants and in the soil. Most healthy people can breathe in Aspergillus spores without fear of negative consequences. However, breathing in this mold can have serious consequences for those with compromised immune systems. Aspergillus can also be harmful to those with underlying lung disease and asthma. Aspergillus causes an allergic reaction in some people.
Aspergillus spores infection patients, asthma and respiratory infections are similar to asthma and respiratory infections. Doctors have a difficult time diagnosing Aspergillosis for the reason. Aspergillosis is a disorder that makes diagnosis difficult, but there are several forms of aspergillosis. The following are a few of the most common ones::
- Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis is the product of bronchopulmonary aspergillosis
- Allergic Aspergillus sinusitis is the product of Aspergillus sinusitis
- Chronic pulmonary aspergillosis is the product of persistent pulmonary aspergillosis
- Aspergillosis of Cutaneous (skin) aspergillosis is the product of a gillosis
When any type of aspergillosis is left untreated, it can cause invasive aspergillosis. This is the most common form of aspergillosis. The infection spreads to the blood vessels and various organs, including the brain and heart, with invasive aspergillosis. Symptoms of invasive aspergillosis include fever, chills, shortness of breath, weight loss, headaches, skin lesions, and a cough that brings up blood.
About 1 in every 300 people have aspergillosis. This fungal infection is a common disease for those people. Many that have it may not have any apparent signs, but they do have trouble everyday. Most people who have aspergillosis complain of daily exhaustion, sleep disorders, being breathless in public, coughing fits, and not having any energy.
How to celebrate #worldaspergillosisday
Many with aspergillosis are encouraged to share their experiences with others on this day. If you don't know much about this fungal disease, take time to learn more about it. You can also support charities that support aspergillosis research. Be sure to help spread the word of this disease by posting #WorldAspergillosisDay on social media.
Aspergillosis day is the first day of world aspergillosis day
Patients at the National Aspergillosis Centre in Manchester, UK, were among the first to be diagnosed with aspergillosis awareness on this day. On February 1, 2018, the first World Aspergillosis Day took place.
