Neuroendocrine tumors are tumors that arise in neuroendocrine cells and are associated with neuroendocrine tumors. These cells are similar to nerve cells in that they send or receive messages within the nervous system. These specialized cells also function like hormones, which are also used in hormone manufacturing. Neuroendocrine tumors develop in certain organs, such as the lungs, appendix, rectum, small intestine, and pancreas. Some tumors grow slowly and others grow faster. Pain, lumps under the skin, exhaustion, and weight loss are all typical signs. When these tumors produce excess hormones, diarrhea, frequent urination, increased thirst, and dizziness can all be present.
Neuroendocrine tumors or NET cancer are both common to other conditions, so it is difficult to determine neuroendocrine tumors or NET cancer. Over 90% of all NET patients have incorrect diagnoses. These patients are first diagnosed with the wrong disease and are then hospitalized for the wrong disease. It's not unprecedented for NET patients to go up to seven years with incorrect treatment. The cancer has often spread to other areas of the body when doctors finally diagnose the disease correctly. For these reasons, NET cancer awareness is of utmost importance.
NET cancers affect more than 12,000 people a year in the United States. Around 125,000 people are currently suffering from the disease. The number of cases is expected to rise by 5 percent each year.
