The lion species, also known as Panthera leo, is one of the world's most invasive animals. The lion can range from a light buff color to a deep reddish brown shade, with a ranging from 300 to 550 pounds. The rare white lion is also found in the wild, and it is surprising. The lion is also muscular and has a booming, deafening roar, and is easily identifiable by its thick mane. They are slowly disappearing, as majestic lions may seem.
Lions roamed freely across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East as far back as three million years ago. Today, loins are living in their natural habitat in only two countries, Africa and Asia. In addition,, some lions are bread in captivity.
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species, Lions are listed as a vulnerable species. Although they are not listed as an endangered species, they do still face challenges that threaten their survival.
On earth, there are about 30,000 to 100,000 lions. Lion populations have decreased by almost half in the last two decades. The declining lion population is primarily due to trophy hunting and a lack of natural habitat.
