When is World Aspergillosis Day?

World Aspergillosis Day, held every year on February 1st, aims to raise concerns about this under-diagnosed fungal disease. It's also a day to inform the general population about the signs and symptoms of aspergillosis.

Aspergillosis is caused by a common mold called Aspergillus. Although it does grow indoors, this mold is most common outdoors on plants and in the soil. Most healthy people can breathe in Aspergillus spores without fear of negative consequences. However, breathing in this mold can have serious consequences for those with compromised immune systems.
