When is National Waffle Iron Day?

On June 29th, Waffle enthusiasts will be officially recognized on National Waffle Iron Day. Some people like their waffles plain with syrup, but we like ours topped with berries and whipped cream, too. Who knew that a basic machine would have such a huge effect on our lives!

Cornelius Swarthout's first patent in the United States for a waffle iron was issued in 1869 by Cornelius Swarthout. GM invented a prototype electric waffle iron in 1911. In 1918, the first electric waffle iron was available to the general public.
