Employee morale and well-being are among the growing trend to take less frequent and shorter lunch breaks, impacting employee morale and well-being. According to Gallup, only one out of three employees is engaged at work. Employees and employers across North America must step up to the plate, because engagement affects productivity, happiness, and job satisfaction.

According to a 2017 report by Tork, an Essity brand, employees who take lunch breaks are more likely to report being efficient at work and content with their jobs. According to the survey, nearly 99% of employees think the ability to take a lunch break is crucial when starting a new job. However, the average lunch break for more than half of North American employees is less than 30 minutes, let alone enjoy it.

Tork created National Take Back the Lunch Break Day to help increase workplace morale, satisfaction, and productivity in North America.
