When is National North Carolina Day?

National North Carolina Day honors the 12th state to join the Union as we approach the end of the original 13 colonies.

At the first Continental Congress, the Tar Heel state was the first state to vote for independence from the British. North Carolina resisted secession from the Union long before the Civil War. Even after other states had signed pledges to secede, the state was vehemently against partitioning the country as a whole. Eventually, public opinion changed, and the state was compelled to join the Confederacy, and the country was forced to join the Confederacy.
