When is International Customs Day?
Thursday January 26thEvery year, International Customs Day highlights the role of custom officials and agencies in ensuring the movement of goods across the world's borders. Members of the World Customs Organization (WCO) also showcased their efforts and activities on this day.
Customs is the department in a world responsible for collecting tariffs. Customs also controls the movement of products into and out of the country. These products can range from animals to hazardous materials to personal care. The WCO helps make customs administrations around the world more effective. The group, which is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, is made up of 182 members from around the world. The three-quarters of the participants are from developing countries. They are responsible for more than 80% of world trade.
Although borders divide, customs unite, according to the WCO. Their mission is to provide leadership, direction, and assistance to customs administrations. They also believe that customs helps to satisfy our planet's economic, socioeconomic, and environmental needs. Customs, in turn, contributes to a sustainable future.
