When is Black Poetry Day?

The day honors the importance of black heritage and literacy. It also acknowledges black poets' contributions and praises black authors.
Take up a quiet spot at the library to read many of the world's best black poets. Or find a poetry reading at a nearby bookstore, cultural, or arts center, such as the Furious Flower Poetry Center at James Madison University. The Furious Flower's name is based on a poem by former U.S. Poet Laureate Gwendolyn Brooks, which is the first center of its kind in the United States. They also have a growing collection of resources, offer workshops, and so much more.
