What is World Poetry Day?
WORLD POETRY DAY
On March 21st, World Poetry Day serves as a reminder of how reading and writing poetry has enriched and inspired the way we live our lives. Poetry has pushed the boundaries of thinking through allegory and complex emotion ever since humans have been recording history, poetry has challenged the status quo with new ways of thinking through allegory and complex emotion. Words have always been the binding source between people, and today's technology helps us see life from a new angle. Poetry is the artistic mastery of this phenomenon, by expressing emotions inside us and influencing others. It's our poetic nature that allows words to be the bridge to our emotions.
Poetry is not limited to an expression of art, but it also serves as a means of teaching outside of the classroom. It helps us to take the lessons we've been given and apply it directly to how we think about the world. On this day, we step into the field of creative expression and open up to the inspiration that surrounds us by sharing, collaborating, and experiencing the world through poetry.
To post on social media, use #WorldPoetryDay to post. Poetry can be read or recite poems. Try your hand at writing a poem. There are as many styles of poetry as there are days. Find one that you love!
Humans have been writing poetry since the beginning of time. So choose a year, any year, and delve into a new, yet undiscovered headspace. For your own expression session, use parchment and a quill.
