What is Santa's List Day?

Santa's List Day is on December 4th, the day that Santa puts together his list of naughty and nice children. It's also a day for kids to start working on their holiday wish lists.

This is when the authentic St. Nicholas of Turkey was born in modern-day Turkey, and it goes back to 280 A.D. Many traditions have developed around St. Nick, who came to be known as Santa Clause throughout the years. The North Pole, elves who make toys, a reindeer pulled by reindeer, enjoying milk and cookies, and going down the chimney to give gifts are among those.

Santa's naughty and nice list is one of the many traditions. "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" is the first mention of such a list in the song. In 1934, J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie wrote the fun Christmas song. The song included the lyrics, "He's making a list, He's checking it twice, He's checking it twice, He's gonna find out who's rude or nice." Santa Claus sees everything that boys and girls do, so they better be safe for goodness sakes.

Kids may have originated from 16th century Holland, with the whole idea of children being naughty or nice. Parents placed their children's clogs near the fireplace before there were stockings were available. On their clogs, good children will find candy or cookies. However, a lump of coal will be discovered by Naughty children.

Even though Santa Claus will make his list on December 4th, there is still time for naughty children to make it on Santa's nice list.
