What is National Superhero Day?

Have you ever been rescued from a volatile situation or saved from injury or death? Many that come to our assistance are called heroes. Some heroes happen to be in the right place at the right time. Some people choose to be a hero for a career (though they wouldn't say they were heroes). Other than that, there are fictional creations that inspire us with hope. Both real and fictional, superheroes are honored on National Superhero Day on April 28th each year.

Just a few of the superheroes whose names we recognize are Batman, Superman, Captain America, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Hulk, and Spiderman. These superheroes serve as role models for our children, even though they are fictional. They serve and protect when fighting evil.

Our true-life superheroes may not have superpowers or wear capes. However, children also look forward to them as role models, just like fictional superheroes. They serve and protect their families and their communities. These true-life superheroes also dedicate their lives to helping others, saving lives, or being a mentor. Just a few of the heroes who protect us on a daily basis are military personnel, police officers, firefighters, and teachers.
