What is National Rescue Dog Day?

National Rescue Dog Day, May 20th, recognizes all the benefits of allowing a four-legged canine to adopt you into your lovable life.

According to the ASPCA, nearly 3.3 million dogs enter shelters each year. Each one of these abandoned and injured animals find their way to a shelter, and their potential is limitless. They're rescue dogs.

Dogs will find a way to nuzzle, fetch, or beg your way into your heart, regardless of their size, color, or breed. You'll find it difficult not to scratch one behind the ear rather than scratching one behind the ear.

Rescue dogs often overcome difficult obstacles. And yet, they provide comfort, safety, and companionship as family pets. Rescue dogs are also able to do much more. They contribute to the independence of people with disabilities with training as service animals and elderly people with dementia. They become our eyes, ears, or legs as well as our best friend under these circumstances.
