What is National Read Across America Day (dr. Seuss Day)?
National Read Across America Day is celebrated on March 2nd, the birthday of Dr. Seuss, each year. The annual festival is part of Read Across America, the National Education Association's initiative on reading. When the event is planned to encourage reading in children and is fostered in the schools, the day is observed on the nearest school day.
All children and youth in every community around the United States are encouraged to celebrate reading this holiday. They are encouraged to read wherever they are at anytime. These are all great ways to spark reading in children.
- Keep books wherever you go. Put them in the car, in every room of the house, and tuck them in backpacks and purses. Make them easily available
- Visit the library often. A love of reading as well as genuine admiration for the library's services libraries provide is aided by knowing how to use the library and discovering the benefits of a library
