What is National Mulled Wine Day?
On March 3rd, we're warming up with fruits, spices, and wine. A hot mug of mulled wine hits the spot in the lingering days of winter, filling the house with pleasant aromas.
Mulled spirits are wine and spirits that have been seasoned and spiced. Mulled wine is usually made with red wine with various spices, fruits, and occasionally lightly sweetened with honey. Popular blends include cinnamon, nutmeg, citrus, vanilla, anise, cloves, raisins, or pears.
The combination of heated spirits and spices is a warm welcome on a cold winter's day and has long been used as a balm against illness at this time of year.
