What is National Lineman Appreciation Day?

On April 18th, National Lineman Appreciation Day honors the men and women who work around the clock to keep the power running. If the power is on where you are reading this article, you almost have a lineman to thank.

These men and women design and maintain the infrastructure that keeps our country running, from the power plant, the grid, and right up to the meters on our houses.

Regardless of the source, the electricity must be transported by using transformers and other machinery. Both the lineman and the customer are of utmost importance due to the harsh conditions that power poses, safety is of utmost importance.

When mother nature destroys what our linemen have built up, they are on the lookout for building it back up as quickly as possible. These men and women continue to work tirelessly to get emergency services back to working order and quickly return service to the remaining areas.

Even if there is no crisis, they still work under challenging conditions on a daily basis. Whether they are digging in trenches, near water, or on high towers, the risks are high.
