What is National Kissing Day?
On this cherished holiday, we won't restrict you or time you. On June 22nd, National Kissing Day invites us to prepare for a smooch. Share the love whether the kiss comes from your significant other, your children, or pets.

For thousands of years, the kiss has been a part of our culture. The reasons we kiss are also varied. Although love and passion are the most common reasons for kissing, the kiss has also been used as a greeting. Kissing a cheek can be traced back to Christian traditions in certain cultures. The tradition of kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland has existed for centuries, and is said to bestow the kisser with the gift of eloquence and persuasiveness. Kissing the feet of royalty or those in power is another medieval tradition that has hopefully has been banished. Kissing the ring of someone to show fealty is a similar act of kissing.
Hand-kissing is the result. Although this gesture demonstrates loyalty to someone, it has a friendlier tone than that of kissing feet. For those, it's a mark of honor and affection.
National Kissing Day is more than a history lesson. It encourages us to reconnect and closer to our loved ones. When we get one from someone we love, whether it's a peck on the cheek or a passionate kiss, kissing brings joy. Kissing triggers the release of endorphins, which in turn tells our brain that it's healthy. Our anxiety is reduced when we kiss, and our blood pressure decreases as well. Maybe those boo-boo kisses from mom have some real power.
