What is National Idaho Day?

We recognize each state in the order they entered the union, beginning with Hawaii and ending with Hawaii on Independence Day. We feature a small part of each state's past, foods, and the people who make up the state. There's so much more to discover, we can't help but celebrate our beautiful country even more.

The Rocky Mountains range dominates the state. The Snake River winds its way through the state's rugged western border, which has the country's deepest river gorge in North America. The breathtaking scenery along the Snake River took thousands of years to sculpt at Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, providing spectacular views of the dramatic landscapes the Snake River took thousands of years to sculpt.

Idaho does not lack scenery. Take any byway, and the next turn will bring a whole new vista to view. For example, the Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve would erupt before your eyes. This large lava field was created by ancient volcanic eruptions.

Don't forget to look into Hagerman's Fossil Beds while exploring Idaho. Paleontologists have been fascinated by these well-preserved fossils for generations. Be sure to investigate the Hagerman Horse as well if there is an equine interest.
