What is National Earl Day?

Each year, National Earl Day is dedicated to those with a particular qualification and a genuine passion for success. The day honors those legends named Earl. Although the name is becoming more popular these days, I hope those who have the privilege of being so named have earned it.

Earl baltes

Earl Baltes, a bandleader who converted the El dora Ballroom into a quarter-mile dirt track in 1954, went from bandleader to dirt race track owner in Earl Baltes' transition from bandleader to dirt race track owner in 1954. He extended the track to its present-day half-mile length by 1958.

By 1962, Eldora became the most popular track for sprint cars, and Baltes began promoting more tracks and events. Baltes sponsored some of the best paying short track events in Ohio and Indiana. A portion of route 118, the Earl Baltes Highway, in Ohio, has also been identified.
