What is National Create A Vacuum Day?
On February 4th, the National Create A Vacuum Day explores spaces devoid of matter. We are being challenged to produce one on this day.
When the pressure inside a space is lower than the pressure outside the region, a vacuum is created.
It's impossible to create a space that has absolutely no matter in a world full of tiny particles of matter. However, we can make partial or simple vacuums at home. A syringe is one of the easiest ways to do it. The space inside will be mostly free of matter by plugging up the open end and pulling back on the plunger. However, microscopic particles will always be present.
How to celebrate #createavacuumday
Conduct an experiment using vacuums. Return to science by watching videos that demonstrate how to create vacuums. Watch a documentary about the space vacuum. You may be interested in knowing what animals can survive there.
