What is National Cold Cuts Day?

Dagwood will eat his heart out on March 3rd because it's National Cold Cuts Day. Call them lunch meats, deli meats, sandwich meats, or cold cuts. Some people like them thick, while others stack them a mile high. Others are still preferring cheese and crackers, while others are still craving them with cheese and crackers. National Cold Cuts Day was created for sandwich and snack makers, however you like them.

There are the humble turkey and ham among the deli staples. There are culinary delights such as salami and prosciutto, as well as flavors that require a more acquired taste such as head cheese and braunschweiger. There is a cold cut for everyone, whatever your preference is. Well, everybody except the vegetarian.

Every nationality has a distinct flavor when it comes to seasoning, curing, and aging a variety of meats. Spices, inhalation, and time alter the taste. Temperature and air circulation influence the flavor, as well as when the animal is butchered.

It's basically an art history lesson rolled into one, and at the end of it all, there's delectable food that can be enjoyed with friends and a refreshing drink.

Or, it's just a piece of meat meant to make a meal. However, breaking bread with friends sounds so much more enjoyable.
