What is National Chocolate Caramel Day?

On National Chocolate Caramel Day, a popular combination is celebrated each year. Enjoy chocolate and caramel in your new candy bar, ice cream, or dessert on March 19th. It will bring a smile to the majority of people's faces. With this difficult-to-resist combination, you can also invoke cravings for chocolate caramel coffee, milkshakes, or just about every dessert.

Although Milton Hershey is credited for making chocolate caramel popular (he did make his living making caramel first), chocolate caramel recipes existed as early as the 1880s. Around the same time, the first mass-produced chocolate bar became available.

The World's Colombian Exposition, 1893, came to Chicago. Hershey's obsession with an exhibit containing machinery for the production of German chocolate became apparent. He was so curious, in fact, he bought the equipment. Soon he was making chocolate bars, many of which contained his company's bedrock ingredient, caramel.

Chocolate and caramel are a sweet pair. It's explains why we find them mixed in so many dishes. The chocolate caramel treatment includes delectable cakes, bars, brownies, fudge, and cookies. Who wouldn't like to celebrate this delectable confection combination?
