Fashion Revolution Day is April 24. It takes place on the tenth anniversary of the 2013 Rana Plaza building's demise. "Who made my clothes?" organizers encourage people to ask their favorite clothing brands "who made my clothes?" on this day. To reveal some of the deplorable conditions in which clothing is made, the aim is to bring greater transparency in the fashion supply chain.
A clothing factory in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on April 24, 2013, killing 1,133 workers and injuring 2,500 more. This was the deadliest accident in the clothing industry's history. Despite the factory's continued operations up until the deadly accident, the Rana Plaza building was reported to have been constructed with substandard materials under faulty conditions.
Another garment factory in Bangladesh collapsed, killing 110 people five months earlier.
Organizers encourage grassroots and social media participation. According to them, one of the main ways to get involved is through social media, encouraging people to use the all-important #whomademyclothes hashtag.
