Nirvana Day
Mahayana Buddhists around the world commemorate Nirvana Day on either February 8th or 15th. Buddha's death and his initiation into complete Nirvana are commemorated in this case, also known as Parinirvana Day.

When enlightenment comes, it is called partial nirvana. Only in death can complete or final nirvana. This is the time when all hunger and pain are gone. At the age of 80, the Buddha died at the age of 80. His disciples established schools in his name after his father's death.
