The United States Navy (USN) is the naval warfare service branch of the United States Armed Forces and one of the United States' seven uniformed services. The national navy day is the first national navy day in the United States' history
The Navy League of the United States organized the first Navy Day in 1922, selecting October 27th to commemorate President Theodore Roosevelt's birth.

In 1949, Defense Secretary Louis A. Johnson ordered the United States Navy's participation on Armed Forces Day in May. The Navy League was not affected by this order, but the Navy League, as a civilian group, continued to host Navy Day celebrations as before.
Then, the Continental Navy's "birthday" of the Continental Navy in the 1970s, was found to be October 13, 1775. Admiral Elmo R. Zumwalt, a Navy League aide, established October 13th as the new date of Navy Day. However, Navy Day in the United States is still celebrated as October 27th.
