National Teach Children To Save Day - Changes Annually

Every year in April, National Teach Children to Save Day encourages children to learn good saving habits.

Every year, bankers around the country volunteer to teach children how to save. Starting these habits at a young age builds a foundation for a lifetime of investing. Our children's involvement with a savings plan and money management skills prepare them for a prosperous future. Parents should educate their children about financial issues so that they do not face pitfalls that can be financially devastating when they step out into the world. Children will have healthy habits as they enter adulthood with an early start on saving and an understanding of budgeting their money.

The day provides tools and information at festivals around the country.

#teachchildrentosaveday is a common misconception that people are unaware of

  • Find an event near you
  • You can also start projects at home that encourage your children to save money
  • Your children will need to help their children learn the skills they will need for a lifetime. To get off, try these tips
  • Give each child a bank account. It helps if the bank is transparent so that customers can see their savings grow
  • Open a savings account. They can track their account and watch it grow there as well
  • Show them what things cost. Direct them to their savings if they want a new toy. Ask them to consider whether toy is worth the money they want to spend. Have the child's price if they still want to buy the item. The act of paying with their own money will show them the toy's cost
  • Demonstrate need rather than want. Describe how our food, clothing, and shelter are essential. However, we can live without going out to eat or buying a new television or the latest phone. Even in your daily shopping, place the needs before the wants
  • Teach your children the value of money and how to save it. To post on social media, use the hashtag #TeachChildrenToSaveDay hashtag
