Elsa Maxwell, author, singer, songwriter, and professional hostess Elsa Maxwell (May 24, 1883 – November 1, 1963) is credited with the introduction of the scavenger hunt for use as a party game in the modern era.

Teams are compelled to search for a list of odd items by a game's theme. Participants are not allowed to buy the items as part of the legislation. Players may have to beg, barter, or even work for them, depending on where the hunt takes place. Some scathing hunts add to the game by including riddles describing each item. The team with the most items, or the first to complete the list, wins.

How to plan a scavenger hunt day

Scavenger hunts have become extremely popular at weekend get-togethers, birthdays, family reunions, and holidays. To keep the workday interesting, even coworkers put together scavenger hunts. For family and friends, try riddle-making and design a scathing hunt.

Download and print the Game Piece Scavenger Hunt we made if you're looking for a scavenger hunt. It can be played either at home or on a tablet. To play the game, you don't even have to have the game pieces. Print photos of the required pieces. Add more clues to the riddles to help players figure out where the images will be found.
