NATIONAL SAXOPHONE DAY – November 6
Mon Nov 6th

National Saxophone Day

On November 6th, the birth of Adolphe Sax, the woodwind's inventor, is commemorated on National Saxophone Day. The saxophone is one of jazz music's most popular instruments.

Adolphe Sax invented several musical devices, including the saxophone, on November 6, 1814. In the early 1840s, Saxophones were made in several shapes. He received a 15-year patent for the instrument on June 28, 1846. The patent encompassed 14 different interpretations of the basic idea, divided into two groups of seven instruments each, ranging from soprano to contrabass.

Many saxophonists and instrument manufacturers made their own changes to the original design and key work following Sax's patent expiration in 1866.

Many great saxophone masters have graced the world with their music over the years.
