National Noodle Day

Rolling unleavened dough out and cutting into a variety of shapes is the basis for making Noodles. Although long, flat noodles may be the most common, they come in a variety of shapes, names, and textures. Each kind of noodle pairs differently with sauces and meals, and each kind of noodle pairs well with sauces and meals.

Noodles are made from a variety of flours and are found in countries around the world. In Asian cuisine, root vegetables, such as yams and potatoes, beans, rice, wheat, and buckwheat can all be found in a large variety of noodles. Most of their pasta is made from durum or semolina flour, though potato noodles were also popular.

An earthenware bowl carrying 4000-year-old noodles that had been well preserved was discovered by archaeologists along the Yellow River in China in 2002.
