The celebrations, more specifically, take place between 6:02 AM and 6:02 p.m. on June 2, 2002 AM. The time and date are written in the United States, 6:02 10/23. The time and date are calculated from Avogadro's number. The number of Avagadro's number is 6.021023. Hence, one of the seven base SI units, defining the number of particles (atoms or molecules) in a single mole of a substance.
- A mole is a unit of measurement used in chemistry to specify quantities of a chemical substance
- Avogadro's number is a historical figure closely related to the Avogadro constant
- Amedeo Avogadro, an early 19th-century Italian scientist, was named after the Avogadro constant
How to celebrate national mole day is a mystery
This scientific day can be celebrated in a variety of ways. Do you know how to use the mole in an equation?
- Learn more about molecular science and Avogadro's number
- Using moles, you can investigate the international system of measurement
- Test your chemistry knowledge by testing your hands. Celebrate with other chemists and chemistry students
- Conducting a mole experiment. See how many punds you can tell while doing it
- Make a video with your students demonstrating what a mole is in your classroom
- Make a rap about the mole. Be sure to include a little bit about Amedeo Avogadro's past
- Investigate other chemists of his time while reading up on Italian scientist Amedeo Avogadro
- Wear a t-shirt with a 6.021023 on it

National mole day history has a long tradition
National Mole Day was triggered by an article in The Science Teacher in the early 1980s. The National Mole Day Foundation was established on May 15, 1991 by a chemistry teacher at Prairie du Chien Senior High School who was inspired by the article and established the National Mole Day Foundation.
