The first container ship sailed from New Jersey to Texas by 1956, the first container ship from Dayton and Columbus dramatically increased the speed with which goods could be delivered in the United States. Shipments have forever changed how products moved around the world. These advancements show how logistics connect the world – and always have.
Today, logistics costs in the United States account for over 8% of everything we produce and sell today. Packaging, warehousing, shipping, and other related topics are included in this article. The third-party logistics (3PL) industry – those that help companies effectively manage logistics throughout their supply chains – is a $800 billion industry on its own.

National Logistics Day was established in 2019 to celebrate the growing logistics industry's vital, expanding logistics industry. Logistics Plus has been helping the logistics industry since 1996.
