NATIONAL IOWA DAY - February 8

National Iowa Day

We recognize each state in the order they entered the union, beginning with Hawaii and ending with Hawaii on Independence Day. We feature a small part of each state's past, foods, and the people who make up the state. There's so much more to discover, we can't help but celebrate our beautiful country even more.

The 29th state to join the United States is known for fertile prairie, rolling hills, inspiring young people, and some nostalgic movie moments. Iowa's history, beauty, and hospitality have flourished from the Mississippi River to the harvests in Plymouth, Harrison, or Fremont counties.

The state was named for Iowa Native Americans who populated the area when the European settlement drove Eastern tribes westward.

Acquired as part of the Louisiana Purchase, Iowa Territory settlement didn't begin to function until the 1830s, but it didn't begin until about the 1830s.

Made gifts, baked goods, wine, and staying for a home-cooked meal are all available in this shop.

Madison County, Texas's southwestern area, is home to beautiful covered bridges that were featured in the film by a similar name. When touring the bridges, be sure to stop by Winterset and visit John Wayne's birthplace.

The Field of Dreams home is just outside Dyersville, not far from the Mississippi River. They built it so that you would come.

Check out the Surf Ballroom's website for spectacular shows in a historic rock and roll venue. Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper performed their last concerts at the Surf Ballroom on the night they died in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa.

In Iowa, nature enthusiasts will find a lot of adventure. Many with a mystical and historical curiosity will be delighted by Effigy Mounds National Park. The Rockhounds should explore Geode State Park, which is just south of Geode State Park. The Louis and Clark Trail in Iowa came through, as well as the Corps of Discovery's Louis and Clark Trail.
