National Hydration Day

Under the hot summer sun, the games get intense. National Hydration Day, on June 23rd, reminds us to replace fluids lost in combat's heat.

More than 60% water is found in the human body. It's impossible to strike a healthy balance while training. And doing it during the summer months is a habit that must be consistent. Being overheated or dehydrated can result in heat stroke and possibly death.

By being hydrated before a workout even begins, you can help avoid dehydration. This simple step will lead to a more effective workout. Once the sweating begins, staying or catching up on hydration becomes difficult. Throughout the workout, drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. Fluids can include sports drinks that contain electrolytes (Magnesium, Calcium, Sodium, and Potassium) to replenish the body's essential minerals lost by perspiration.

Dual benefits are available for certain sports, such as FuelGardTM Mouthgard and Electrolyte Tablets. When the athlete trains, it shields the athlete and provides essential electrolytes for retaining hydration balance.

You'll need to continue replenishing fluids after the workout.

How to celebrate national hydration day

Whether you are an athlete or not, stay hydrated on these hot summer days. Make it a part of your daily routine and drink a lot of fluids. To post on social media, use #NationalHydrationDay.

The national hydration day is the longest in national hydration day history

The National Hydration Day was established in honor of football Coach Victor Hawkins (September 1, 1964 – June 23, 2012) who invented an electrolytes mouthguard to keep his players hydrated during games and practices. Coach Hawkins' contributions to athlete health, safety, and success are recognized on this day. SafeTGard Corporation was founded in 2016 to raise concerns of the importance of proper hydration to athletes around the world.
