National Hole In My Bucket Day
National Hole in My Bucket Day is observed on May 30th of each year. This wacky holiday is in honor of the fun children's song; There's a Hole in My Bucket.

Henry and Liza's back-and-forth discussion is about a back-and-forth conversation, which has its roots in 1700 Germany. Henry Henry has to replace his leaky bucket. Henry begs Liza for assistance in each stanza. To repair his bucket, he needs a bucket to carry water.
Although this annual event was inspired by a musician's inability with repairing a leaky bucket, there are other ways to commemorate this day. When a once usable bucket becomes a hole, we're sure it's a bit of a bummer. However, not all is lost. Holey buckets still serve a purpose. Although they can no longer hold liquids (or hold them tightly), they can also hold volumes of mass. It can do many jobs depending on where the hole is located.
- Many sizes of bucketets make excellent planters, especially for garden vegetables that have deep roots
- To hold a PVC pipe, fill it with concrete. You'll have a sturdy umbrella stand at the end of the season
- Make a garden seat for weeding the flower beds, and you'll have storage for your tools as well. Making a padded covered seat out of the lid takes no time
- Make a compost bin. Even with a hole in it, you'll be able to grow fantastic, nutrient-rich compost for your garden
- Old galvanized buckets make great décor on the patio or in your house. Use them as light shades or side tables
- Build a birdhouse, bird feeder, bird or butterfly bath
- Storage, archive, and storage. Buckets of all sorts can be dressed up and used to buy tools, outdoor toys, and clothing
So sing the song while you repurpose your leaky bucket.
