With vibrant color, taste, and texture, Japanese sushi hand rolls delight the senses. The chef treats each one as a work of art since every delicate hand roll is masterfully planned. The perfect bite is also enhanced by a delectable dip into soy. We love eating hand rolls with friends over sake, wine, or a Japanese beer, whether it's spicy or sweet, or a combination of both.

Ideally, a hand roll is eat right away and contains the freshest fish. Hand rolls also include specially harvested seaweed, house-made sauces, and warm rice. The final result is not only stunning but also incredibly delectable as a result comes together.

How to celebrate national hand roll day

If you've never had a hand roll, today is the day to try your first. Take a trip to your new sushi restaurant and bring your friends, too! Or, better yet, make your own with these sushi-making kits. To the main dish, use it as a meal or an appetizer. However, don't forget to wash your palate with ginger after each kind of hand roll. It adds to the enjoyment!

#NationalHandRollDay is a worldwide recognition of all of this and more. Be sure to enjoy more than one and post #NationalHandRollDay on social media.

History has a national hand roll day

The hand roll and Chef Nozawa's introduction of the cylindrical-style hand roll to the United States over 40 years ago, the Sushi Nozawa Group, the group behind SUGARFISH, KazuNori, and Nozawa Bar, established National Hand Roll Day to commemorate the hand roll and Chef Nozawa's establishment of the cylindrical-style hand roll to the United States.

The Original Hand Roll Bar in KazuNori opened in 2014 on the belief that the experience of eating hand rolls is truly unique and deserving of its own restaurant. KazuNori's hand rolls feature only the freshest fish, as well as specially harvested seaweed, house-made sauces, and signature warm rice, with an unwavering dedication to quality. Guests dine at the counter while watching the chef make their hand rolls in each location. They love them, but most importantly, they love them when the seaweed is at its best.
