National Coconut Day

National Coconut Day is on June 26th, and summer begins in earnest on June 26th. In several ways, the coconut provides sweet support for our bodies.

Coconut oil alone falls into the superfood category due to its medium-chain triglyceride (MCTs) content and all that they do. Coconut oil plays a vital role in your body, whether supporting a weight loss program, moisturizing skin, and hair, or metabolizing into energy.

The whole coconut is used in many ways for our bodies and everyday cooking. Each provides essential nutrients and flavor, from shredded coconut to milk, cream, water, and oil. Its anti-viral and anti-microbial properties are also notable.

Coconut is a rich source of fiber, Vitamin B6, iron, and minerals such as magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, and zinc. Coconut oil moisturizes our skin while also helping our skin stay clean and hair silky.

Of course, we love coconuts in the kitchen! Beyond baked goods, coconut adds sweetness to our recipes, and because the MCTs in coconut oil don't absorb in the body as fat, it is an excellent alternative to other oils and fats.

The best air-popped popcorn is made by the flavor of coconut oil. Make your curry dish and gain rave reviews by adding coconut milk to your curry dish. Coconut milk is also a good substitute for creamy homemade ice cream for those who are lactose intolerant and craving ice cream. Of course, it's not summer without a pia colada!

Consumers also use the husk and shells as a potting medium, carbon filtration, charcoal, bio-fuel, and even organic cat litter, in addition to the fruit and water of the coconut's as food. The manufacture of coir, which manufacturers use in making mattresses, doormats, and other products, is another use for the husks.
