NATIONAL BEAN DAY – January 6
Fri Jan 6th

National Bean Day

On National Bean Day on January 6th, green, red, kidney, lima, or soy are just a few of the many varieties of beans recognized on National Bean Day.

This day marks the bean's appearance, shape, and color. Since the early seventh millennium BC, we've been growing beans (legumes). Beans are a common source of protein in today, as well as in the Old and New World's history. Not only are beans an excellent source of fiber, but they also make for a healthy meal and snack choice. They are low in fat and high in complex carbohydrates, folate, and iron, as well as iron.

Between 9 and 13 grams of fiber in one cup of cooked beans. Soluble fiber can help in lowering blood cholesterol.

  • Around 40,000 bean varieties exist in the world
  • Only a small amount of these varieties is mass-produced for regular use
