Both are life-threatening illnesses, according to the common problem. The International Red Sneakers Day promotes increased awareness of all food allergies and support for those who have them.
The observance was inspired by Energetic and athletic 11-year-old Oakley Debbs. He had a tree nut and peanut allergy, and he loved red sneakers. Sadly, he is also a testament to allergens' killing. Oakley died after eating a piece of cake made with walnut extract in November of 2016.

History of the international red sneakers day has a rich tradition
After Oakley Debb's fatal reaction to nuts in November 2016, the Red Sneakers for OakleyTM, a non-501c, established International Red Sneakers Day in 2018. Merrill and Robert Debbs, Oakley's parents, founded Red Sneakers for Oakley to discourage other families from experiencing the same tragedy. Oakley's red sneakers, which are integral to the organization's theme, are Oakley's red sneakers, which are distributed around the world and in multiple languages.
