Seven Ways North Dakotans Can Celebrate National Drink Wine Day February 18
February 18th is National Drink Wine Day. Here are seven ways North Dakotans can celebrate this popular vino holiday.
In a snowbank, place a bottle or two of vino. If the bottle of wine cools to below freezing, as soon as you remove the cork, air mixes with the wine to create the North Dakota Wine Slush!
Make a toast to good health. A day of drinking 4 – 8 ounces of wine a day extends longevity. In addition to offering many other health benefits, wine also reduces the risk of cataracts, heart disease, heart attack, and type 2 diabetes.
Make your own wine. Even from fruits grown in North Dakota, there are several ways to make your own wine. You can also go to Vintner's in Bismarck or Uncorked in Fargo to produce as well as label your own wine creations.
For dinner, go out for dinner. A large number of wines are available at many of the fine restaurants in North Dakota. So whether you're at Maxwells in West Fargo, 10 North Main in Minot, or Mandan's Harvest Brazilian Grill, enjoy a glass of vino with your dinner.
With red wine, you will warm up. In North Dakota, February is one of the year's coldest months of the year. Red wine has a natural tendency to heat up the extremities.
Support a local winery by a local winery. With 24 wineries in North Dakota (yes, 24), you will be able to find a local wine to your liking. "Our Strawberry Rhubarb wine is a local favorite," Maple River Winery in Casselton, ND, states Greg Kempel. Even North Dakota tourism even includes an online map to make it easy to find and enjoy local wineries.
