In 2015, Lori Budd, one of the top 15 wine bloggers in the United States, introduced Cabernet Franc Day. She did so to honor her favorite grape and picked December 4th as it is the anniversary of Cardinal Richelieu's death. The Cardinal brought the first cuttings of the cabernet franc grapevines from the Loire Valley in southwest France, where the wine was first established.
